Why do home health or homecare leaders choose online training instead of live training? The answer is simple- because of convenience. But is convenience a great choice when it comes to learning all the state and federal regulations you need to start and stay in business? So, you say well it is cost-effective, and saves me time. This is true, but do you learn anything from online training that will help you pass survey or grow your agency without too many issues?
As an approved CEU (continuing education unit) provider, I have issues with online training. I’m not jealous, I’m just concerned that some people aren’t putting in the effort to learn the information they need to stay in business. For example, someone can register for an online course, receive the material, and have someone else take the class and test to pass. This is called cheating and it happens every day. When it comes time for a survey or if the agency fails, there is no one else to blame but themselves. The same can be said for your clinical staff. You give your staff their required training via online courses. Do you really know who is taking the course? Do you have some kind of tracking system in place to actually know if they learned anything?
When you go for convenience, you are actually losing a lot. Here are 7 reasons you should attend live home health or homecare Administrator’s training.
- Social Interaction with other agencies
- Secrets about home health or home care that online courses don’t or can’t provide.
- Find out what other agencies do in certain situations.
- Receive immediate answers to your problem or question.
- Hands-on training situations.
- Fewer chances of multitasking and not paying attention to the instructor.
- Being able to interact with the instructor.
- The presenter has proof you are the attendee learning and receiving the certificate.
- The live class cost less than online courses.
- You will have a better chance to pass survey with the knowledge you gain.
Now you have it. Are online courses worth it or not?
To your Success!
