How To Tell If You Need A Home Health or Homecare Consultant or Coach

Starting or operating a Home Care or Home Health agency is far from being easy. Working long hours and covering for PCW or nurses is stressful mentally and physically.  Sometimes you work hard in the field providing client care that your office duties get neglected. Sometimes you wish you had somebody to listen to you to give you advice, tell you what you are doing wrong (if anything), and how to improve things with your agency.

Starting a home care or home health agency in a saturated market has a lot of challenges that may require you to hire a coach or consultant experienced in the home health and home care industry. Let’s go over seven of these challenges.

  1. As mentioned before, you start your agency in a state, city, or community where there are literally hundreds of agencies but not enough clients to provide you with the ability to make enough money to pay staff, your bills, and yourself.
  2. You provide Medicaid Waivers such as HCBS, but you may be in a state where there aren’t enough Medicaid clients. You live in a state where the population has a low number of seniors who are on Medicaid.
  3. You can’t figure out how to market your agency to your target market. The truth is that you may not know who your target market is, and it is not everyone.
  4. You started your agency without the income or plan that allows you to Thrive.
  5. You have no experience or knowledge of the home care or home health industry.
  6. You have poor leadership skills because you have never been in a management position.
  7. You have inadequate training and orientation programs for your staff.

These seven issues can cause you to get depressed and frustrated easily if you don’t have the right support.

Well, here is some good news. You don’t have to fight these battles by yourself! What you need and should have is a Home Health or Home Care Consultant to help you. How do you know if you selected the right consultant without going broke?

Here are some Smart Strategies for selecting the Right Home Health/ Home Care Consultant or Coach:

1. Make sure you select someone who has experience in the field and in a management position.

2. Ask how long they have been a Coach or Consultant?

3. Ask if they have credentials as a Coach or Consultant.

4. Are they calling themselves a coach or consultant because they have or had an agency?

5. If the consultant or coach provides products like manuals and packets of forms to use. Make sure they did not just make copies of what they are using in their agency.

A good and experienced coach or consultant will know how to help you set realistic goals and create plans to help you succeed in business with proven strategies. He or she will provide you with ongoing support, hold you accountable for the tasks you need to do, motivate you, and provide you with the wisdom and knowledge you need to make your agency Thrive.

With 2023 coming soon, make plans to hire a home health or home care coach/consultant to assist you in transforming your agency from struggling to thriving. Remember, you shouldn’t be alone in your quest for true success. Together as a team, you can achieve the true success and prosperity you have been desiring and dreaming of.

To Your Success, in 2023!
